Paxlovid is an oral antiviral pill to treat COVID-19 that can be taken soon after symptoms surface to help keep high-risk patients from getting so sick that they need to be hospitalized. After showing a high efficacy in clinical trials, it was granted an emergency use authorization (EUA) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in December 2021.
